Hi!
I am Jake B. Rydell and I am currently a graduate of Wayne State University having achieved a BFA in Theatre, a BA in Political Science, and a minor in Dance. I was born and raised in the metro Detroit area and, after graduation from University, I relocated to New York City, which is where I reside currently. I hope to take my wide spectrum of interests and skills and apply them toward the advancement and defense of human rights both within the United States and abroad.

EXPERIENCE
INSTRUCTOR, 4TH WALL THEATRE COMPANY
May 2017 - Present
Instructor at 4th Wall Theatre Company, a Detroit-based company focused on improving the lives of those with disabilities through theatre education and therapy. As an instructor, I am assigned sessions with individuals both young and old from across the southeast Michigan area and, in these sessions, I collaboratively teach acting, dance, and singing.
OUTREACH COMPANY ACTOR, JEWISH ENSEMBLE THEATRE
August 2017 - Present
As a resident actor in the outreach company, I performed several one-act shows in rotation at various public schools throughout southeast Michigan. I was tasked with being fully prepared to play any and all of the male roles in these shows on any given performance day.
EDUCATION
BACHELOR OF FINE ARTS IN THEATRE - WAYNE STATE UNIVERSITY
August 2015 - Present
Four years of training in acting, voice, movement, and theatre history. Participated in numerous productions sponsored and produced by Wayne State as an actor and as a designer.
BACHELOR OF ARTS IN POLITICAL SCIENCE - WAYNE STATE UNIVERSITY
January 2018 - Present
Secondary degree from Wayne State, featuring a number of classes centering on political theory and philosophy.
MINOR IN DANCE - WAYNE STATE UNIVERSITY
August 2015 - Present
Primarily rooted in jazz dance, but varied across styles including modern, ballet, congolese, and a number of social dances. Also included a select few classes about the history of dance and dance across the world.

Just over a month spent in the heart of Russia at the Moscow Art Theatre School receiving intensive, conservatory-style training in acting, ballet, singing, movement, and hand-to-hand stage combat.
SKILLS
MUSICIANSHIP
Skilled at playing guitar, bass guitar, drum set, hand percussion. Also able to play piano, ukulele, and mandolin. Experienced at providing musical compositions and arrangements in dance and theatre settings.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
In addition to native fluency in english, possesses an intermediate understanding of French (particularly text-based) and a basic understanding of Russian and American Sign Language.
